Porsche Says Nissan Cheated with the GT-R at the Nurburgring

08_nissan_gtr_ring.jpg
A few months ago Nissan took the GT-R to the famed Nurburgring in Germany and completed it in a very fast time of 7:29. Well now Porsche is speaking out and saying that Nissan cheated in order to record that record time.

Porsche recently took the US-spec GT-R to the ring with its 911 Turbo and GT2. Unfortunately the GT-R could not compete with the two German cars and came in a full 25 seconds slower than the time that Nissan recorded.

European Nissan GT-R specs released, now with more power, grip

Nissan giveth, and Nissan taketh away. Although next year's Nissan GT-R will reportedly (maybe) lose launch control, it will get five more horsepower after a few electronics tweaks, going from 480 PS (473 hp) to 485 PS (478 hp), according to an official statement from Nissan UK. It will also be stickier thanks to the stock fitment of Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tires - the same troublesome rubber that earned the GT-R its 7:29 'Ring time and the continued public complaints of Porsche - and altered spring rate settings.

Aesthetically, the Premium Edition GT-R gets rims in Gun Metal Grey, and the Black Edition wears the same wheels in black. And in a development straight out of a marketing roundtable, Pearl White simply wasn't cutting it as an exterior color, so it's been replaced by a "deep" white called "Storm."

Of course, all of this will cost you more and you'll have to wait longer: the base GT-R jumps 3.8-percent in price up to £56,795, and you can tack on £1,300 more for a Premium Edition or £2,600 for the Black Edition. And then you can wait until 2010 for your car to arrive.

600 HP Nissan GT-R LM Edition Rumored [Over The Back Fence]

While fan boys the world waits anxiously for the Nissan GT-R V-Spec, could the company be secretely developing and even faster, 600 HP version of Godzilla? Japan’s Best Car magazine is reporting along with a Le Mans competition car, a street-legal Nissan GT-R LM Edition will be offered with an extremely high level of performance and in extremely limited numbers. While we’re pretty skeptical of Best Car’s prediction of what the inevitably body addenda will look like, the rest could be in the realm of probability.

In addition to that near-Corvette ZR1 power level (still coming from the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6, Best Car says to expect bigger brakes, lighter wheels, firmer suspension, a fancier transmission and more downforce from a wilder bodykit.

This won’t be the first LM Edition Nissan, the late’90s saw an R33 Skyline GT-R LM Limited built to honor the vehicles that took part in some random 24 hour endurance race in France.

If these rumors are true, expect to see the car some time in 2010 or 2011, after the GT-R V-Spec goes on-sale. [via Carscoop]
