The reason we’re not in Paris right now is because a majority of the cars on display will never be seen on U.S. streets. Sure, some from Audi and Volkswagen are coming over, but there are a number of vehicles with familiar nameplates designed just for Europe. Here are a number of production-ready vehicles that were displayed in Paris that we’d like to see make it here but probably never will, like the Honda Civic Type-R.
Honda Civic Type-R
This is the Civic Europeans get instead of the American Civic that was redesigned last year. Honda debuted this high performance variant — the Type R — in Paris this week. Don't worry, the new U.S. Civic Si is just as fast.
Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
About 500 of these 450-hp exotic beauties will go on sale in Europe for around $140,000. The body is made of carbon fiber and it should be almost as fast it looks.
Ford Mondeo "Concept"
The Ford Mondeo is a big seller for the Blue Oval in Europe. This is the first bodystyle featuring an all new design. Wagons are much more popular in Europe than they are here.
Nissan Qashqai
Strange name aside this is Nissan's global CR-V fighter and it looks like it could do well in the segment. This vehicle could actually be available in the U.S. sometime in the near future.
