Cadillac Considering Four-Door Converj

Last month GM unveiled the Cadillac Converj Concept that combined the Volt's powertrain with a much sexier shell.

Although the Converj Concept is a coupe, GM is reportedly considering a four-door version for production. A four-door Converj would keep its coupe-like roofline, meaning it would be dubbed as a four-door coupe. Four-door vehicles simply sell better than two-doors so it would make for a stronger business case. According to Bob Lutz a production version of the Converj will not differ much from the concept, much in the same way that the production Camaro is very similar to its concept.

Even if the Converj is eventually given the green light, don't expect it to be released before 2013. Also who knows how much it would actually cost. The Volt is expected to start around $40,000, so a Cadillac version would definitely cost much more.

Ford F150 Named Motor Trend's 2009 Truck of the Year

Motor Trend has announced the recipient of its 2009 Truck of the Year award and this year the redesigned 2009 Ford F150 receives the award.

This year there were only 4 contenders for the award, the Ford F150, also redesigned Dodge Ram, Suzuki Equator and HUMMER H3T. Basically the choice for Motor Trend's editors was between the F150 and Ram since the Equator is basically a rebadged Nissan Frontier and well the H3T is....you fill in the blank.

Editors praised the new F150 for having low noise levels and high interior quality materials. Other standouts were the new features like the Tailgate Step, Box Side Step, and a stowable bed-extender helped the F150 receive the award.

GM Cancels LA Auto Show Press Coverage!

These past few weeks have been really bad for GM and now comes news that the automaker has canceled all of its press events at the LA Auto Show next week.

It's already been reported that GM canceled plans to unveil the new Buick LaCrosse and the production version of the CTS Coupe at the show. GM spokesman Scott Fosgard told the Detroit News that all of GM's bad financial news and the pending government bailout would have overshadowed the show.

Instead of showing anything new GM is going to bring the Chevy Volt and the Saab 9-4X Air Concept that was unveiled in Paris.

Very sad...

Consumer Reports Places the Ford Flex and Mazda CX-9 in Top 5 Three-Row SUVs

Yesterday Ford announced that the slow-selling 2009 Ford Flex would have an available $2,500 rebate to help move them off the lots. The Mazda CX-9 has also failed to reach the top in sales either, but Consumer Reports has announced that both vehicles are one of the top five three-row SUVs they tested.

“Ford’s new Flex wraps a versatile, cavernous interior in a distinctly boxy styling,” the magazine writes. “It is also lower and more wagon-like than the others in this class.”

As the world waits for GM's newest small sedan the Chevy Cruze, now comes word that the pricing for the car could be higher than its main competitors.

GM has yet to officially release any photos of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, so for now we've had to just deal with the photos of the lesser powered Camaros..until now.

Ford Strives to Make a Profit on Small Cars

For years automakers have claimed that small cars equal small profits, which explains their focus on bigger more profitable vehicles. Well now that large vehicles are out, automakers are trying to go small without killing their profits. Ford is hoping that its new "global" Focus will deliver double digit percentage profit improvements compared to the current US-spec Focus.

Honda Civic Outsells the Camry, F-150 and Corolla in May

Gas prices are so insane right now and car buyers are finally realizing they can't afford to drive those huge gas guzzlers anymore. The F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in the US for decades, but its reign at the top is soon over. Last month it moved down to the number five spot behind the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

2009 Ford Fiesta Spy Photos...Ford Gets Serious About Small Cars

Spy photographers have caught Ford's new supermini testing. It adopts many of the same styling cues as the Mondeo and S-MAX. The car is going to feature a large grille, flared wheel arches and angular headlamps.

Or Maybe not... According to BusinessWeek Volkswagen takes the award for having the most recalled 2007 models. VW recalled just over 1 million New Beetles because of faulty brake light switches.
